Over many years and countless projects here at Solutions Manufacturing, we’ve developed an expert skill set in the art and science of machining plastics. Our vast experience in a wide range of plastic polymers make us “the go-to solution” for our customer’s machined plastic components. This particular project is very typical of the many machined plastic components we produce on a daily basis. This plastic block is machined out of natural cast nylon, which was selected by our customer for its high strength, low friction and superior wear resistance. The block, along with the stainless steel Helicoil thread inserts, are FDA approved for their use in the Food Processing Industry.
We bring in strips from one of our approved plastics vendors cut from standard 1” thick sheet, slit to our specified custom width. After incoming inspection, the strips are saw cut on our automated band saw into individual piece part blanks. Next the blanks are routed to one of our Automated Pallet Change, Kitamura Vertical Machining Centers. On the Kitamura we can maintain the tight tolerances of the parts complex geometric shape, while producing a complete part every cycle using the automated pallet change system. After a thorough cleaning process the parts are ready for their assembly operation. Using our air operated thread insert installation tool, we install two M6x1 Stainless Steel Helicoil thread inserts. Next the parts are put through a final inspection process and boxed to be delivered directly to our customer’s machine assembly floor.
This is but one example where we offer the customer the “complete solution.” Through our value added services we’ve stream lined their internal processing and enhanced their JIT throughput.
